Position Overview

The Senior AX Developer is responsible for the design and development of enhancements and customizations within Microsoft Dynamics AX. The role is also responsible for employing application integration middleware and best-practices to realize an enterprise architecture that fosters business agility through attributes such as service-orientation, loose-coupling, abstraction, orchestration, composite applications, etc.  Assessing opportunities for application and process improvement and prepare documentation of rationale to share with team members and other affected parties

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all phases of project from conception to completion


• Develop work-breakdown structures


• Develop project tracking and variance reports


• Create project documentation


• Provide risk assessment


• Exercises independent judgment and discretion in overall project management by prioritizing, planning and tracking project progress


• Planning and oversight of the design, build and test environments of the systems and related interfaces


• Guide team development efforts towards successful project delivery


• Collaborate with other software developers, business analysts and software architects to plan, design, develop, test, and maintain web and desktop based business applications 


• Develop, refine, and tune integrations between applications


• Daily supervision of staff and all associated tasks assigned to managing a development and support team.


• Prepare reports, manuals and other documentation on the status, operation and maintenance of software


• Design, develop, and unit test applications in accordance with established standards


• Design and integrate business processes and data flows between Microsoft Dynamics AX and other applications  


• Assist in the collection and documentation of user's requirements, development of user stories, estimates and work plans


• Work with teammates in the migration of legacy applications to current Microsoft technologies


• Adhere to high-quality development principles while delivering solutions on-time and on-budget


• Provide second and third-level support to business users


• Collaborate with Business Systems Analysts to review functional specification for customizations required


• Creating unit test cases, creating unit test plans, and executing unit testing


• Troubleshoot and resolve software bugs, data, and system configuration issues


• Presenting technical ideas and approaches to peers or the IT team


• Perform design and code reviews


• Mentor and train technical and non-technical team members

Required Skills

• 8+ years required of development experience with an expertise in the design, development and deployment of enterprise-level N-tier applications


• 5+ years required of development experience with the Microsoft Dynamics AX platform/technology stack


• Experience in utilizing the standard Microsoft development suite (X++, PL/SQL, MS SQL Server (SSIS, SSRS, SSAS), XML) will be an added advantage


• Experience in leading teams utilizing one or more development methodologies including Agile, SCRUM, or Waterfall


• Experience with concepts, design patterns, tools, and platforms that involve standard Microsoft development solutions. 


• Solid understanding of modern application architectures, development methodologies and tools is needed
